    Don't leave The Georgia Coast without visiting Sapelo Island. Don't have time? Then stop by the Sapelo Island Visitor Center and browse or stretch your legs on nature trail taking you through a live oak and palmetto forest. The loop is about a 30 minute easy walk. Best Sapelo Island and Black Beard Island T shirts are available at the center. Open Tues.-Friday 8-5 and Sat. 8-noon.

  • Review of "Darien Police Department" at Darien

    Pulled over by Darien PD while traveling with a group of 6-7 cars. I was in the fast lane with cars on my right and cars behind me. My Passport S55 Radar detector never went off. Cop was on the shoulder with a hand held laser gun firing across 3 lanes at an extreme angle due to heavy traffic. There is no way in hell the Darien PD clocked me at 85 mpg on his best day. His laser would have needed to go thru 2 cars between him and my car and my radar/laser detector never went off. When I told Darien PD that my radar detector never went off he stated that he uses laser? Maybe someone should inform the Darien PD that laser is not invisible to radar detectors. My passport detects laser just fine but I wasn't going to argue with the Darien PD on the side of the road. The next day while traveling north thru Darien and I encountered the same laser speed trap and my detector went off just fine. I have worked with many Government agencies for over a decade (NASA, FBI, Homeland security, NMCI, MITRE, BAE to name a few) and have nothing bad to say about a single Law enforcement or Government officials. I know for a fact that Darien PD did not clock my car because my detector never went off and his laser would have clocked the cars to my right. I was driving a sports car so I was singled out and given a bogus speeding ticket. I intend to get an attorney and fight this bogus ticket.
